URBAN FOREST CREDIT PROGRAM

The Urban Forest Credit Program (UFCP) stands as the premier national scale initiative program for curbing greenhouse gas emissions by means of protect and restore canopy within urban and city environments. UFCP remains aligned with the best practices outlined by the United Nations - Food and Agriculture Organization in the field of urban forestry. It’s objective is to enhance tree canopy coverage in these areas. The program framework not only achieve project-specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) but has been meticulously crafted to encompass national-level action plans, to serve as a catalyst for the direct impact of these actions on national targets and overall national development  across various facets, encompassing institutional growth, resource development, and the advancement of sustainable and societal well-being. 

UFCP allocates financial support to projects focused on emissions reduction and tree planting, as well as the preservation of existing trees. Its overarching mission is to enhance ecological, social, functional, temporal, perceptual, and economic dimensions in urban and city spaces, ultimately transforming them into vibrant, meaningful, and sustainable places. This program has been forged through collaboration among an array of experts, spanning scientists, urban planners, and forest professionals, ensuring a well-rounded approach to its development.

Procedure
  1. Project Proponent/ Developer requests to register the project by submitting documents using a registered account.
  2. GCACH reviews documents submitted by PP.
  3. Once a project has been approved, GCACH adds the project into PP's account as an under development project.
  4. Project Proponent/Developer submits required documents to VVB's for independent third party auditing.
  5. Verification and Validation Bodies issues issues validation and verification report to PP's after performing verification and validation process.
  6. Project Proponent/ Developer later sends the documents including the documents provided by VVB's for further assessment by GCACH.
  7. GCACH registers the project, and sends documents to PP for issuing the credits and later lists the project.
